Olympic Recap

I know they’ve been over almost a week, but they still live in my mind, heart and TiVo. So here are some ponderations on this most beautiful of events.
It’s amazing how Michael Phelps’ close-up - on the cover of any and every magazine in existence - leaves almost no white space for the teasers.
It’s amazing how terrible [...]

What Have You Done Recently?

Things I Have Done This Week

I created a gouge the approximate size and shape of Crater Lake, Oregon, in my knee. Places that bend are not optimal locations for such things. In case you were wondering.

I wore a practice pinny that may or may not have been worn by Lindsay Tarpley. Which is just cool. [...]

Recently, In Life

School is starting up, and with it the insanity. I have been cataloguing my life, and now I’ll let you in on a little bit of it.
In a few days, I will be enrolled in 3 classes, one a capstone class/project. I will also have 4 (four) part-time jobs. I will also be playing NCAA III [...]

Dual Picks

Two pretty interesting movies I’ve seen recently are rather similar and completely different. They are about life and coping with death, but they go about it in different ways. When I say different, I mean not just from each other, but from the usual. Here goes my comparison and evaluation. Watch them both and let me [...]

Good Times

Had an absolutely amazing day yesterday. Only a couple blemishes.
Was housesitting, so sleeping in a real bed, not a couch. Got woken up really early by a text from a friend.
Dog decided since I had stirred, I may as well get up all the way. *groan* Blemish number one. Took care of dog, gecko, house.
Went [...]

An Extra Eight or Nine Miles

*This was in my drafts folder, so I didn’t actually have to look away from the Olympics for more than a few moments. And now, back to Bob Costas.      Hmm, that’s a little disturbing.*

I have a theory about what makes certain sitcoms so great. Different elements factor into different sitcoms, but one of the many [...]

I Gladly Join The Masses

Olympics has consumed my blogging, my thoughts, my free time, my sleep time, and basically my social life (tho I did remember to shower – thanks Beck).
I realize that it is the In Vogue thing to write about the Olympics right now. And I realize I tend to go against the In Vogue Thing, even [...]

Intensity

My brother called me last night. As I flipped open the phone, as fast as I could, without so much as a hello or a how-de-do (like anyone actually answers the phone like that) I simply said . . .
I’M NOT WATCHING IT LIVE DON’T TELL ME DON’TTELLME DUNTLME-EEEEE!!!!
See, I knew what he was doing. [...]

Sports and People

It seems in many areas of life, ‘people’ are divided up into categories. Old, young, goth, geek, athletic, hot, smart, what have you.
In sports, we the people are divided into two subcategories: men and women. (I know what you’re thinking, but it’s easy to avoid the ‘black’ and ‘white’ divis-itory line. Just use ’basketball’ and ‘hockey’ instead.)
Watching [...]

If There Be Any Justice

The Dark Knight will obliterate, smash, demolish, eradicate, and perform any and every other possible synonym for ‘destroy’ on Titanic’s box office record.

Aaron Rogers will beat out Brett Favre, fair and square.

Neither Obama nor McCain will win the general election.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have covered pop culture, sports and politics in three sentences. What else could you want [...]
