About My Blog (profound, no?)

First, the title. I stewed about it for a while, not wanting to use something ‘original’ like “goaliegirl” or “karatechick”. “Killzone” was my favorite, having multiple possible meanings, but Laura was against it. For one thing, she said it was intimidating (likely true) and no-one would visit (still likely true no matter the name). Things like “writerofstuff” were too obscure, and I didn’t want to use my existing e-mail names.

I remembered the name of a mock company a friend and I started last year (which we are still toying with.) Complete with manuals, a missions statement, ads (my favorite part) etc etc, the company is “grassroots.” I was perturbed to discover my originality had been copied previously. And I did not want to put a number, even a jersey number or significant date, after the words (see above and need for at least illusionary originality.) I considered words like “Revolution” “Uprise” “Instigate” and “Effect” before I remembered our slogan (well, one of them) is “Join the Movement.” So I combined them to get a slightly obscure, long-to-type name which when I attempt to verbalize will almost certainly result in my having to write it out so the people can remember it later. “Remember” here meaning ‘pull the scrap of paper out of their pocket, go “Oh yeah” and throw the paper in the round filing cabinet.’

while this blog may serve to keep those interested updated with events of my life (much easier than mass e-mail, I think) it will be more of a running monologue on the world. Not so much a “here’s the news” but a “here’s what I think about the news” and “here are some little known facts those higher-ups (whoever they may be) don’t want you to know, but down here, in the grassroots, I will tell you . . .” and then I will proceed to tell you.

Mutation is sure to happen, but hopefully entertainment and enlightenment will be simultanious occurences.
